Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care across multiple clinics in the Greater Charlotte area. The role involves rooming patients, collecting medical histories, performing screenings, and assisting providers with procedures.

Responsibilities include carrying out lab duties such as venipuncture, labeling, and processing specimens, administering medications and vaccines, and handling scheduling, referrals, and insurance authorizations as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to maintain rapport with patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation in Windows, and use of EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, med reconciliation, medical history, screenings, allergy review.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen collection/ labeling/packing, POCT per standing orders/CLIA.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights of administration.
• Handles referrals, insurance authorizations, scheduling and patient messaging.
• Cross trained to support other clinic duties as needed.
