Job summary

IU Health in Carmel, IN is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support clinical operations within a busy ambulatory setting. You will check in patients, verify demographics and insurance, and document information in the EMR to ensure accurate records.

You will assist providers with medical procedures, record vital signs, and support scheduling and education duties as directed by supervising clinicians. This role emphasizes accuracy, patient-centered care, and teamwork in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/CMAC preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA/CLIA/ADA.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• TB validated or obtained within 6 months of hire preferred.
• Understanding of Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Obtain and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, weight).
• Assist providers with patient care and clinical procedures.
• Prepare and administer injections under provider direction.
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up visits.
• Document patient information in EMR accurately.
• Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the provider.
• Support clinic workflow while delivering high-quality care.
