Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital in Wooster, OH is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant II to provide proficient clinical and administrative support under the direction of a Provider and/or Licensed Nurse. This onsite role includes training support within scope and requires strong medical terminology knowledge, basic phlebotomy, and EPIC experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT Program, or Paramedic Program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination; record vital signs; perform phlebotomy as needed; administer medications per policy.
• Collect data for assessments and discharge planning under supervision.
• Collect, process and submit lab specimens per policy.
• Communicate findings to Provider/Licensed Nurse using proper documentation.
• Document care accurately in the EPIC system.
• Assist with scheduling, visit prep, co-pay collection and patient tracking.
• Perform clinical duties specific to the department (POCT, hearing/vision screenings).
• Handle routine office tasks (faxing, copying, filing).
• Prepare and stock examination rooms; maintain patient relationships.
• Triage work-related issues and participate in process-improvement projects.
• Follow safety policies to ensure a safe care environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
