Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital in Canton, OH is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, MA program/EMT/Paramedic, BLS cert, and healthcare experience preferred; EPIC experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of approved Medical Assistant program, EMT, or Paramedic program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• EPIC or similar EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for exam, records vitals, performs phlebotomy as directed.
• Collects data for assessment and discharge planning under the nurse.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens according to policy.
• Communicates findings to provider or nurse using proper documentation.
• Documents care in EPIC system accurately and timely.
• Schedules appointments, prepares visits, and collects co-pays; tracks patients.
• Performs department-specific duties such as POCT and hearing/vision screenings.
• Handles routine office tasks: faxing, copying, filing.
• Cleans and stocks examination rooms; maintains supply levels.
• Develops positive relationships with patients and families.
• Follows safety policies to ensure patient safety.
• Other duties assigned.
