Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.

This onsite role (0.5 FTE, 40 hours bi-weekly) requires phlebotomy experience, medical terminology knowledge, and proficiency with EPIC or similar EMR systems. Will perform vital signs, room preparation, and documentation in EPIC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT Program, or Paramedic Program required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• No prior experience required.
• No supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by Providers.
• Collects data contributing to assessment and discharge plans under the Licensed Nurse.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens.
• Communicates patient findings to Providers using proper documentation.
• Document care accurately in the EPIC system.
• Schedule appointments, prepare visits, collect co-pays, and track patients.
