Job summary

CleanSlate Centers in Wilkes-Barre, PA seeks a Medical Assistant II to support providers, perform phlebotomy, drug screenings, and point-of-care tests. You will aid with injections, medication counts, and patient outreach to ensure a smooth patient experience.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of a MA/Phlebotomy/EMT/LPN program, with BLS or eligibility within 90 days. On-site schedule, day shift, with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, EMT, or LPN program is required.
• 1+ year experience as a Medical Assistant and in phlebotomy is preferred.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams by gathering medical history and vitals.
• Perform phlebotomy, urine drug screenings, and CLIA-waived testing.
• Administer injections per provider direction and training.
• Assist with prescription management and medication counts.
• Support outreach: appointment reminders and patient follow-up.
• Maintain EMR documentation and lab/PPE supplies.

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Assistant II, you’ll be a critical part of the care team—supporting medical providers, assisting with both clinical and administrative tasks, and ensuring a seamless patient experience. Your work helps drive quality care, patient safety, and healing for those in recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams by gathering medical history and vitals
• Perform phlebotomy, urine drug screenings, and CLIA-waived testing
• Administer injections per provider direction and training
• Assist with prescription management and medication counts
• Support outreach efforts: appointment reminders, re-engagement, and patient follow-up
• Manage lab and PPE supplies, maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
• Collaborate with front desk and lab teams to support daily workflow
• Uphold safety standards, patient confidentiality, and infection control protocols

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, EMT, or LPN program
• 1+ year experience as a Medical Assistant and in phlebotomy
• Willingness to train on injections if not already proficient
• Experience in behavioral health, billing, or healthcare settings is a plus
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
• Proficient in EMRs and Microsoft Office
