Job description

Overview

SCRI Oncology Partners, located in Nashville, Tenn., is a dedicated cancer treatment center led by globally recognized oncologists with expertise in cancer care and clinical research. This center offers patients state-of-the-art personalized cancer care and opportunities to participate in clinical trials with innovative treatments. The practice conducts clinical trials through their affiliation with Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a global leader in oncology research that has been offering and managing clinical trials in the community for over 30 years. Since its inception, SCRI has contributed to pivotal research that has helped advance the majority of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA today.

Scope
  • Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment.
  • Promotes efficient patient flow and care, including exams and procedures.
  • Performs clinic support tasks such as clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining physician's schedules.
  • Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain all necessary patient records required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Respond to patients' calls as requested.
  • Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, and reception as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • Alert nurse/physician of abnormal vitals or important patient information.
  • Collect inbound meaningful use data, including flu documentation, initial height and weight.
  • Print medication lists for patient review.
  • Fill out disability forms.
  • Schedule blood transfusions, therapeutic phlebotomies, and order special tests (e.g., Oncotypes, Kras testing, EGFR, Myriad, Paradigm).
  • Enter orders under a provider’s supervision as directed.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a medical or nursing assistant.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
