Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Charlotte-area team. The role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, medication reconciliation, medical history, and health screenings, as well as assisting with procedures under physician orders.

You will perform lab duties including venipuncture and POCT, document in EMR, and administer medications and vaccines following the rights of administration. The position requires teamwork, good communication, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with patients, team members and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, Windows navigation, and EMR usage.
• Demonstrates customer service skills that support a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows all policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vitals, medication reconciliation, medical history, screenings, etc.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights of administration.
• Handles referrals, insurance authorizations, and scheduling tasks.
• Cross trained to support clinic practice within MA scope.
• Maintains clean work environment and stocked supplies.
