Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under a Provider or Licensed Nurse. The role involves preparing patients, taking vitals, phlebotomy, data collection for care plans, and accurate EPIC documentation.

The candidate will perform routine clinical duties, assist with scheduling, billing, and patient tracking, and maintain a safe, organized examination area. On-site, full-time day shifts with variable hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT or Paramedic Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination; take vital signs and perform phlebotomy as directed.
• Collect data for care assessment and discharge planning under supervision.
• Collect, process and submit laboratory specimens.
• Communicate findings to Providers and Nurses using proper documentation.
• Document care in EPIC accurately and timely.
• Schedule appointments, prepare visits, collect co-pays, track patients.
• Assist with department duties such as POCT and screenings.
• Perform routine office tasks as needed.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms.
