Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under the supervision of a Provider and licensed Nurse. Responsibilities include preparing patients, taking vitals, drawing blood, documenting in EPIC, scheduling, and maintaining exam rooms.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, completion of a medical assistant program, BLS certification, and familiarity with Microsoft Office; prior phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and completed a Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification is required; MA certification is preferred.
• Experience with phlebotomy and medical terminology is preferred.
• Healthcare environment experience is an asset; EPIC EMR experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination; takes vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed.
• Collects data to support assessment and discharge planning under a nurse's direction.
• Collects and processes laboratory specimens per policy; documents actions in EPIC.
• Schedules appointments, assists with visit prep, collects co-pays, and tracks patients as needed.
• Maintains examination rooms; supports team communication and patient relations.
