UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join University Family Medicine in Bloomfield. The role includes back and front office duties with daylight hours and no evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Prior MA experience is preferred, and staff are placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. Responsibilities include HIPAA-compliant record handling, phlebotomy, EKGs, lab reporting, patient flow management, and direct patient assistance.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Responsabilidades

• Send/receive patient records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, schedule appointments, verify insurance and patient demographics, and manage charts.
• Prepare patient rooms and equipment; maintain infection control and organize inventory of supplies.
• Check schedules, organize patient flow, accompany patients to rooms and assist with exams and procedures.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures and document in medical records.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health and UPMC policies; maintain confidentiality.
• Under physician supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
