Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians (OSUP) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support direct patient care, room patients, collect samples and perform routine tests under clinical protocol. You will assist physicians and nursing staff in examinations and treatments, while preparing rooms and equipment for procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program OR
• Minimum of 1 year medical assisting experience OR
• Military Medic training OR
• EMT-P (Paramedic) training OR
• Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Responsibilities

• Room patients, measure and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration).
• Complete patient interview and history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments; explain procedures; assist with procedures as ordered by physician.
• May assist in examinations, carry out treatments and special tests.
• Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms for patients.
• Collect samples such as blood, urine and sputum; perform routine laboratory tests on samples.

Education

Diploma from Medical Assistant Program

Minimum of 1 year medical assisting experience

Military Medic training

EMT-P training

Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education
