Job summary

Florida Department of Health seeks a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing staff in West Palm Beach clinics. You will perform clinical and administrative duties, including vital signs, histories, specimen labeling, and coordinating referrals. Familiarity with HMS, Plan Link/EPIC, and Florida Shots is a plus.

This full-time position requires Medical Assistant Certification and CPR; a valid driver’s license may be needed for some sites. Work hours are 8:00am–5:00pm, 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Proficient with standard office software (Word, Email).
• Ability to perform, record vital signs and document in patient record.
• Ability to interview patients and obtain a complete medical history.
• Ability to keep accurate records and communicate effectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Records patient medical history, medications, allergies, and test results in the medical record.
• Prepare patients for provider examination and ensure supplies are ready.
• Explain exam procedures to patients and inform providers of abnormal results.
• Assist providers with exams and act as chaperone as needed.
• Enter referrals and administer medications per orders; document in EHR.
• Provide immunizations and manage vaccine inventory and Florida Shots records.
• Ensure patient flow and follow up with referrals and tests.
