Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certificate or diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
• One year experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Current ACLS or BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identification according to policies.
• Prepare exam rooms, ensuring neat, clean, and disinfected spaces.
• Take and record vital signs, height and weight as needed.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information including SDOH and histories.
• Assist with warm hand off to behavioral health team when needed.
• Request medical records from outside providers when advised by the team.
• Order and document point of care tests (POCT) per standing orders.
• Communicate abnormal POCT results to the provider.
• Schedule and coordinate health maintenance screenings per protocol.
• Assist with exams and procedures, including injections, EKGs, nebulizers and related tasks.
• Check out patients with instructions and schedule follow-ups.
• Maintain logs, POCT testing equipment, and coordinate with outside hospitals.
