Qualifications

• Specialized diploma as a medical assistant.
• Ability to adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting.
• Initiative and ability to work independently or with others.
• Excellent computer skills including EMR, word processing, and Excel.
• BLS certification (PA) within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient and equipment for exams and maintains exam rooms and clinical area.
• Performs medical history collection and medication refill per protocol.
• Collects and prepares lab specimens and schedules authorizations for referrals and/or procedures.
• Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates them to the licensed nurse or provider.
• Adheres to clerical, clinical, and EMR workflows.
• Performs clerical duties and provides front office support such as greeting patients and handling calls.
• Collects co-payments, schedules appointments, updates demographics, obtains referrals and pre-certifications.
• Uses patient-centered care concepts in delivering care.
