Job summary

CommuniCare Health Centers (Texas) seeks a Medical Assistant (Luckey Ranch) to support front and back office operations and patient care under supervision. You will assist with injections, EKGs, screenings, and patient communication, while maintaining accurate records and coordinating referrals.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of MA experience or MA certification, and BLS certification. EMR/EHR experience and primary care setting exposure are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year experience as Medical Assistant or MA diploma/certification.
• Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable of personal computers.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
• Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day operations of the front and back office, coordinating referrals and patient communication.
• Administers injections and assists with EKGs, vision/hearing screenings, and waive testing; supports medical examinations within MA scope.
• Obtains patient history and vitals; documents quality metrics for regulatory and accreditation purposes; participates in audits.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, cleaned; restocks exam rooms.
• Registers patients, updates demographics, and handles insurance posting and encounter data.
• Performs end-of-day reconciliation; ensures cash handling is secure and deposited.
• Prepares for next day by updating appointment types, preregistration, and program eligibility screening.
• Provides exceptional customer service; greets customers and addresses concerns; supports other departments as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
