Job summary

CommuniCare Health Center Careers is hiring a Medical Assistant (MA3514 - Luckey Ranch) in San Antonio, TX. You will perform both front office and back office duties, including patient check-in, charting, injections, EKGs, and basic care under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least 1 year of MA experience or MA certification, proficiency with EMR/EHR, and BLS certification. Travel to other clinic sites may be required and hours may vary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification is required.
• Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable of personal computers.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association.
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
• Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office; coordinates referrals and patient communication.
• Administers injections, assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures (EKG, vision/hearing screenings).
• Obtains patient medical history and vital signs; supports audits and quality metrics.
• Maintains inventory and ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned; stocks exam rooms.
• Registers patients and handles demographics; verifies insurance; posts encounter data to funding plans.
• Performs end-of-day reconciliation and cash handling procedures.
• Prepares for next day clinic by chart prep and pre-registering patients; screens for program eligibility.
• Provides exceptional customer service and assists other departments as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
