Job summary

American Family Care in Charlotte, NC is seeking a General Medical Assistant to support an outpatient clinic. You will obtain vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, then prepare patients for exams and assist licensed providers.

Responsibilities include explaining treatments, preparing labs, drawing blood, administering medications per procedure, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring clean exam rooms.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance as instructed.
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests.
• Perform drug screening procedures in accordance with rules and regulations.
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered.
• Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
