Job summary

American Family Care Statesville seeks a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under a licensed provider in our outpatient clinic. The role works with a franchised AFC location, with duties and benefits varying slightly by franchise.

The successful candidate will take vitals, assist with exams, administer medications, perform lab work, document thoroughly, and support referrals. Associate degree or equivalent and AMT/AAMA credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent.
• AMT registration or AAMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit.
• Explain procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure tests are performed accurately and timely.
• Administer medications and treatments per procedures.
• Draw blood and prep labs for reference or in-house processing.
• Perform lab tests and quality controls.
• Respond to lab messages and callback requests.
• Conduct drug screening per rules.
• Document immunizations accurately.
• Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications.
• Prepare exam rooms and sterilize equipment.
• Maintain complete patient documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
