Summary of Job Duties:

This position will float to other IMSL Clinics as needed. The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direct supervision of the clinic physician, assisting in examinations and treatments, conducting patient interviews, measuring vital signs, recording information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), drawing blood samples, preparing specimens, and performing administrative tasks like scheduling and registration.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED, plus completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Ability to perform point-of-care testing, draw blood, and prepare specimens for laboratory processing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BLS (CPR) Certification.
  • At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience.
  • Medical Assistant experience.
  • Two years in an ambulatory care setting.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist with medical procedures and examinations.
  • Research physician orders in Epic, collect patient data, and perform phlebotomy.
  • Perform EKGs, dressing changes, and administer medications per policy.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and patient check-in/out.
  • Provide professional and courteous patient interaction.
  • Handle administrative duties including answering phones and verifying insurance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and effective communication.
  • Coordinate referrals, tests, and procedures.
  • Respond to third-party payer requirements.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and patients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
