Job summary

CLS Health in Pearland, TX, is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our Endocrinology team. You will room patients, collect medical histories, take vitals, and prepare charts and benefits information ahead of visits.

We're looking for candidates who are reliable, detail-oriented, and customer-focused, with at least 1 year of MA experience. Spanish bilingual skills are a plus, and familiarity with medical office software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized credential.
• 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Endocrinology specialty experience is a plus.
• Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line - Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
• 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant
• Endocrinology specialty experience is a plus
• Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
