Job summary

TexomaCare is seeking a Medical Assistant in Durant, Oklahoma, to support physicians with patient care, vital signs, venipuncture and documentation in the EMR. The role includes preparing exam rooms and covering front desk duties as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma, BLS/CPR certification, and a Medical Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion or one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with medical terminology required.
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (clinic protocol).
• General medical office procedures.
• Understand end-of-day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (clinic protocol).
• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions.
• Familiarity with office equipment such as fax machine, copier and telephone system.
• Familiarity with EKG machine and other patient care testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of patient care duties under the direction of a physician.
• Interview patients and measure vital signs (pulse, temperature, BP, weight, height).
• Perform venipuncture and other procedures as directed by the physician within scope of practice.
• Document in the Electronic Medical Record per IPM guidelines.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations.
• Assist in covering the front desk as required.
