Job summary

Summit Health is seeking a Medical Technician to support physicians with procedures, document encounters in the EMR, and manage patient flow and labs at our Jersey City site. The role emphasizes DOH compliance, accurate charting, and compassionate patient care.

Ideal candidates have MA training with EKG and phlebotomy experience, 4–6 months in a clinical setting, and strong communication skills. Bilingual abilities may be required per site location.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program; CM MA credential preferred and/or phlebotomy and EKG certs.
• 4–6 months experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Able to conduct EKGs.
• Comfortable with phlebotomy; 100+ blood draws preferred.
• Experience with rapid bedside tests (UA, finger stick, rapid mono).
• Knowledge of third party payor requirements preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to work independently.
• Familiar with EMR and other computer systems.
• Bilingual language skills may be required depending on site.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician with medical procedures within MA Scope of Practice.
• Document encounters into the EMR accurately and promptly.
• Direct patient flow, manage inventory, and follow up on labs.
• Ensure DOH compliance of site lab and exam rooms.
• Assist with training and acclimation of new Medical Assistants and Scribes.
• Maintain a clean, professional work environment.
• Provide compassionate care to patients.
