Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care within a clinical team. You will assist with rooming patients, collecting vitals, updating histories, and following established workflows to ensure quality care.

The role includes administering medications as trained, assisting with screenings, maintaining exam rooms, and may involve travel between locations. Certification requirements and CPR are part of the process.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepare and room patients within the clinical practice setting according to workflows.
• Accurately obtain patient vital signs and document patient history and screening.
• Assist with depression screening tools when applicable.
• Complete annual wellness visit screenings.
• Review and update medication lists in the EHR.
• Review social history with patient and update records.
• Pend/ cue orders for age-appropriate screenings or prescriptions as per protocol.
• Perform back office testing per AHN policies.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures.
• Potentially serve as a scribe with training.
• Provide follow up with patients by preferred method as instructed.
• Notify patients of test results promptly under provider direction.
• Prepare exam rooms and ensure inventory and supplies.
• Sterilize instruments per policy and guidelines.
• Perform lab controls and equipment checks as assigned.
• Document medications accurately per policy.
• Document accurately in EHR and complete clerical duties as assigned.
• May travel between physician office locations.
