Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Elko, NV. The MA will assist with patient assessments and treatments under supervision, perform basic procedures, monitor patient condition, and document care provided.

Responsibilities include handling clerical tasks, obtaining authorizations, and maintaining supplies and exam areas. The ideal candidate will administer injections, take vitals, and ensure accurate coding and charges are captured.

Qualifications

• Assists with patient assessments and treatments under supervision.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
• Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
• Documents patient care given and maintains records.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and examination areas.

• Codes charges accurately per policy.

Qualifications and requirements

A Medical Assistant (MA) who excels in this role:

• Assists with performing patient assessments and treatments under the supervision of a provider or nurse.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
• Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Administers patient injections and takes patients' vitals.
• Obtains authorization for consultations, referrals, procedures, and ABNs per policies.
• Evaluates chart documentation for coding purposes, applies official guidelines, and determines and applies appropriate codes. Documents all charges on the fee ticket to ensure 100% capture of all charges.
