Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit.
• Medical Assistant Certification is required.
• Graduate of medical assistant certification program preferred.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Experience or aptitude with EMR and ability to navigate electronic records.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient flow of patients to optimize appointment availability.
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms according to policy and procedures.
• Prepare patients for examination; measures vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, weight and height.
• Assist clinicians with routine clinical procedures and tests; advise patients on preparation or pre-visit testing.
• Ensure EMR is updated with medical information, including demographics, medications and allergies.
• Reconcile medications and set up pending refills; discontinue inactive prescriptions.
• Resolve minor patient concerns and complaints as appropriate.
• Order and perform point-of-care testing (e.g., strep, urine, hCG, glucose).

Education
