Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a dynamic clinical setting in Irving, Texas. The MA will work under supervision, assist physicians and nursing staff, and perform routine tasks such as specimen collection, EKGs, and wound care while maintaining quality patient service.

The role emphasizes infection control, patient confidentiality, and accurate medical documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proven ability to react calmly in emergency situations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Tuberculosis screening and immunity proof required.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties within MA scope; operate diagnostic equipment; collect cultures and blood samples.
• Room patients and prepare for examination.
• Document patient care accurately in medical records.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect for patients.
• Prepare and sterilize equipment; maintain infection control.
• Screen intake information; follow Standard Delegation of Orders.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
