Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under a provider's supervision. You will assist physicians, prepare examinations, and document care in the medical record while maintaining infection control and confidentiality.

Flexibility to travel to Irving and nearby clinics is required, with thorough training and opportunities for career growth in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Basic computer literacy required with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Willing to travel to various locations as needed.
• Tuberculosis screening and immunity proof required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nursing staff and support patient care.
• Record patient data accurately in medical records.
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms and stock supplies.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and collect specimens as directed.
• Ensure infection control and patient confidentiality.
• Travel across the DFW North Team 3 service area, mainly Irving and North Richland Hills.
