Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Medical Assistant in Texas to support clinical staff under supervision and perform duties such as specimen collection, EKGs, wound care, and patient documentation.

The MA will assist physicians, maintain infection control practices, and ensure patient confidentiality while delivering quality customer service. Certification, BLS, and basic IT skills are required. This full-time role offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrated basic computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within Medical Assistant scope; operates diagnostic equipment and performs wound care tasks.
• Performs quality control checks on equipment and prepares/sterilizes equipment.
• Rooms patients and prepares them for examination; documents in medical records.
• Coordinates patient care with physicians and other clinical staff while maintaining confidentiality.
