Job summary

UnitedHealth Group’s WellMed division in Texas is hiring a Medical Assistant to participate in patient care under supervision. The MA will operate diagnostic equipment, prepare treatment rooms, document patient information, and assist physicians and nursing staff while following infection control and privacy policies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, MA certification (or within 180 days), and a current BLS credential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Certification as Medical Assistant or ability to obtain within 180 days
• BLS certification at time of hire or within 30 days
• Basic computer literacy with Excel
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to act calmly in emergencies
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nursing staff
• Operate diagnostic equipment (no test interpretation)
• Prepare and sterilize equipment and rooms
• Record patient data in medical records accurately
• Coordinate patient care under supervision
• Maintain infection control and privacy standards
• Assist with intake, data collection, and SDO adherence
• Perform related duties as assigned
