Qualifications

• Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (written exam and in-person assessment) at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Proven knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook and EMR systems.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Tuberculosis screening and proof of immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant’s practice and operates diagnostic equipment.
• Performs simple specimen collection and blood draws; administers non-intravenous medication; performs EKGs.
• Prepares patient for examination and records care documentation in the medical record.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and standards; maintains patient confidentiality.
• Organizes exam rooms, stocks supplies and adheres to infection control procedures.
