Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our patient care team in Texas. The MA will provide clinical support under supervision, operate diagnostic equipment, collect specimens, and prepare exam rooms while ensuring patient comfort and privacy.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, current Medical Assistant certification, BLS, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to react calmly in emergencies and provide good customer service.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice, including basic clinical tasks.
• Rooms patients and prepares them for examination.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and respectful care.
• Organizes treatment rooms, stocks supplies, and sterilizes equipment.
