Responsibilities

  • Perform EKGs, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and assist with routine procedures.
  • Use the EHR to queue prescription renewals, add medications, enter orders as directed, and document visit tasks for billing.
  • Schedule diagnostic and laboratory tests and verify insurance, prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.

Job description

  • Provide high quality, direct patient care in a team-based model to BIDHC patients
  • Support smooth and efficient administrative and clinical practice operations
  • Develop empathetic relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Facilitate timely patient flow and communicate delays to patients and providers
  • Update medication and allergy lists and review screening questions
  • Liaise between patients and practice staff to ensure optimal flow and service delivery
  • Provide hand-off information to providers entering exam rooms
  • Obtain vital signs, height, and weight measurements
  • Perform EKGs, point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and assist with routine procedures
  • Administer immunizations when qualified
  • Lead outreach and health coaching for population health goals
  • Monitor, order, and maintain medical equipment and supplies
  • Use the EHR to queue prescription renewals, add medications, enter orders as directed, and document visit tasks for billing
  • Schedule diagnostic and laboratory tests and verify insurance, prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications
  • Identify OSHA compliance issues and support patient safety and PHI protection
  • Report to the Practice Manager
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 6 months clinical classroom
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and respect the beliefs of all patients and team members
  • Medical Assistant must have graduated from an accredited MA program to administer immunizations
  • Preferred: 0-1 years related work experience or customer service related experience in any field
  • Preferred: Graduate from BILH Primary Care Clinical Assistant Training program, EMT Basic License, Phlebotomy Certificate, or other healthcare training
