Jobtailor in Maryland is seeking a Medical Assistant to escort patients, prepare exam rooms, and gather health information for visits. You will take vitals, perform phlebotomy, administer injections, and assist with procedures under provider direction.

In this role you will support front desk operations, coordinate scheduling, manage medical records, and communicate test results to patients. Certification and CPR/BLS are required at start date; prior primary care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or related program.
  • National or state MA certification or registration preferred; required where mandated by state.
  • CPR/BLS certification required at start date.
  • Experience in primary care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to rooms and stock exam rooms.
  • Review medical information and obtain updated health data.
  • Take vitals, perform blood draws, injections, wound care, and assist with procedures.
  • Work with contracted labs for additional tests.
  • Prepare and administer approved medications and immunizations under provider direction.
  • Develop patient plans of care and address care gaps.
  • Front desk duties: scheduling, records requests, check-in/check-out.
  • Record data in medical records per documentation guidelines.
  • Process test results and communicate findings to patients.
  • Participate in patient outreach to engage eligible groups.
  • Maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment.

Job description

  • Escort patients to rooms and ensure exam rooms are thoroughly cleaned and stocked
  • Review previous medical information and gather updated health information from patients
  • Take vitals, perform blood draws, give injections, bandage wounds, and assist with procedures
  • Work with contracted labs for additional tests
  • Prepare and administer approved medications and immunizations under provider direction and written order
  • Partner with care team members to develop individual patient plans of care and address gaps in care
  • Perform front desk duties including scheduling, medical record requests and abstraction, documentation, specialist visits, referrals, check-in, and check-out
  • Record accurate and pertinent data in medical records according to documentation guidelines
  • Process test results and provide timely results to patients via e-message, mail, or phone as directed
  • Participate in patient outreach to drive engagement among eligible patient groups
  • Maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant, preferably in Primary Care. May vary based on clinic needs
  • Graduation from a formal Medical Assistant program or other related program
  • National or state-specific MA certification or registration is strongly preferred; MA certification or registration is required for employment in States where certification/registration is required
  • CPR/BLS certification required at time of start date
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred
