Description

The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Certified Medical Assistant to join the Health Services team at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, WA.

Under the supervision of a licensed practitioner or Registered Nurse, the Medical Assistant-Certified will assist in providing patient care, including routine medical records duties, administrative support, and clinical tasks to ensure smooth operation of the medical department.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting in patient care within the scope of licensure and as delegated
• Measuring vital signs, visual acuity, ear irrigations, injections/vaccinations, basic lab functions, electrocardiography, respiratory assessments
• Documenting patient history, current health status, and observations
• Reporting abnormal vitals/labs, carrying out orders, monitoring patient conditions, and responding to emergencies including CPR
• Supporting clinical operations, including patient flow, exam room prep, and collaboration with staff
• Maintaining medical records and confidentiality

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant-Certified program
• Experience in outpatient clinics
• Certification in Basic Life Support and First Aid
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Unrestricted licensure in Washington as a Medical Assistant

Additional requirements include:

• Minimum 40 hours/week availability
• Ability to work flexible schedules, maintain professionalism, multi-task, de-escalate, and maintain confidentiality

Preferred qualifications include IV certification and phlebotomy experience.
