Role Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care in a clinical environment, promoting efficient patient flow and care, including exams and procedures. Tasks include clerical duties, answering phones, maintaining physician schedules, supporting compliance, and more.

Essential Duties

• Escort patients, record vital signs, allergies, medication changes, and verify consent forms.
• Prepare exam rooms, assist with exams and procedures, and support patient education.
• Obtain blood specimens, administer injections, maintain disinfection protocols, and process instruments.
• Handle patient calls, schedule tests and appointments, and assist with authorizations.
• Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, and maintaining drug programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience with insurance authorizations and minimum five years as a medical or nursing assistant.
• Phlebotomy experience and current CPR certification preferred.

Physical & Work Environment

Requires body motion, handling, lifting up to 40 lbs, standing, walking, and vision/hearing capabilities. Exposure to common healthcare environment hazards may occur.
