Job description

Golden State Dermatology is a physician-led and owned dermatology group rapidly expanding across California, with over 37 locations. We specialize in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, including skin, hair, and nail conditions, Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer, cosmetic skincare, anti-aging, body contouring, and plastic surgery.

As a Medical Assistant, you'll partner with providers and guide patients through their treatment. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and stock at the end of each day.
  2. Reviewing patient history, visit reasons, medications, and patient understanding of procedures; making notes in EMA.
  3. Ensuring MIPS information is accurately completed in the medical record.
  4. Assisting with scheduling tests and treatments.
  5. Supporting dermatology providers during surgical procedures such as excisions, Mohs surgery, and cosmetic procedures.
  6. Providing front desk support by answering phones, scheduling patients, and assisting staff as needed.
  7. Cleaning and performing spore testing on autoclaves, maintaining scheduled maintenance, and keeping records.
  8. Checking medication and sample expiration dates, maintaining records, and updating pathology reports and slides.
  9. Processing prescription refills and obtaining necessary authorizations.
  10. Managing pathology and culture logs responsibly.
  11. Handling multitasking efficiently to meet all responsibilities promptly.
  12. Ensuring exceptional patient service, making patients feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for, with attention to detail and compassion.

Helpful but not required skills include customer service, healthcare or aesthetics experience, knowledge of insurance carriers, and familiarity with EMR software such as EClinicalWorks or EMA.
