Job Description - Medical Assistant - Sheffield Village (250003XI)

Overview:

This position involves performing basic Medical Assisting duties, with the potential for advanced responsibilities such as procedures, coordinating work for other MAs, or patient care navigation (for MA III).

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage patient flow to facilitate unit operations.
  2. Assist with front desk duties, including scheduling, verifying patient payor information, and handling documentation.
  3. Perform all front desk duties independently (for MA III).
  4. Support process improvement initiatives as directed by management.
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  6. Comply with all policies, standards, and HIPAA requirements, including annual training and adherence to the UH Code of Conduct.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED (Required).
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program (Required).
  • 1+ years clinical experience as a Medical Assistant (Preferred)/Required MA II.
  • 3+ years clinical experience as a MA (Required MA III).

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to organize and adapt to changing work assignments.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (Preferred).

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (Preferred for MA I & II).
  • CMA required within 6 months of hire for MA III.
