Position Summary

The medical assistant acts as a patient care coordinator and advocate, maintains clinical supplies, ensures proper documentation, and facilitates an optimal patient flow and experience, following OSHA/WISHA and other compliance and regulatory guidelines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing direct patient care, including:
    • Preparing exam rooms and maintaining supplies
    • Disposing of contaminated supplies and sterilizing instruments
    • Positioning patients for exams and procedures
    • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
    • Obtaining vitals, patient history, and chief complaints
  • Assist providers during procedures, including preparing areas using aseptic techniques and positioning patients appropriately.
  • Handle instruments and assist with procedures for extended periods.
  • Report test results to patients as directed by physicians.
  • Document all encounters accurately in electronic records.
  • Perform phone triage, post-op calls, and respond to messages within 24 hours.
  • Coordinate care and testing at other facilities as indicated.
  • Maintain equipment and stock supplies.
  • Support daily team duties and special tasks as assigned.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred; training will be provided.
  • Current Washington State Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years of medical office experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic medical terminology and medication knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, compassion, and empathy.
  • Adherence to safety, risk management, and confidentiality protocols (HIPAA).
  • Efficient time management with attention to detail.
  • Dependability and punctuality.
