Job summary

Jobtailor in Maryland is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support patient flow and clinical operations. You will perform vital signs, blood draws, TB testing, specimen preparation, and EMR documentation while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of prior medical assistant experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Competence working with a diverse population of colleagues and patients
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
• Technological capability and comfort operating in multiple systems for communication and documentation
• Familiarity with MS Office software (Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.) preferred
• Familiarity with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 desired
• Prior experience with harm reduction a plus
• High degree of integrity and compliance with work standards and regulatory requirements

Responsibilities

• Complete patient vital signs, TB testing, and blood draws
• Facilitate timely and efficient patient flow throughout patient visits
• Perform administrative duties supporting patient flow
• Prepare specimens for shipping
• Maintain laboratory supply inventory and a sanitary, organized work environment
• Provide input on treatment philosophy, treatment services, and patient care
• Communicate with teams regarding patient appointments
• Attend required meetings, huddles, and center-team collaboration
• Consult team members on lab testing, results, and patient issues
• Collect laboratory specimens in compliance with federal and state regulations
• Review, post, and disseminate laboratory results
• Complete documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Maintain patient accounts, including insurance and billing information
