Department Overview

Position Summary

This role involves working every other Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Medical Assistant will provide family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents under the delegation of a provider or RN, including:

  1. Escort patients to exam rooms and document information.
  2. Prepare and administer medications and injections as directed.
  3. Assist with procedures such as hearing/vision tests, rapid strep testing, nebulizer treatments, and urine catheterizations.
  4. Collect and process laboratory specimens, maintaining patient dignity and confidentiality.
  5. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant, LPN/LVN, or RN program.

Preferred:

  • One year of clinic experience or completion of a Medical Assistant externship at Children's Minnesota.
  • Pediatric experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic laboratory skills and phlebotomy (if required by site).

Licenses and Certifications

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
