Job summary

Gastroenterology Health Partners is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our Louisville team. The position requires travel to a satellite location near Shepherdsville, KY about once per month.

You will support gastroenterology physicians and allied staff in delivering exceptional patient care. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, collecting specimens, assisting during visits, managing referrals, and helping with scheduling and patient communications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology helpful.
• Must be able to travel to satellite locations.

Responsibilities

• Measure vital signs and document in patient chart.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record patient health history.
• Assist the physician with office visits and emergencies.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions and notify test results.
• Assist with scheduling visits, procedures, labs, x-rays, and hospital admissions.

Snapshot Of Daily Duties

• Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and documents all information in patient’s chart.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician with office visits. Must be able to assist physician in an emergency.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions. Notify patients of test results
• Assist with scheduling office visits, procedures, laboratory tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, hospital admissions and appointments as necessary.

The Must Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
• Previous experience working in a medical office environment preferred.
• BLS certified required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
• Must be able to travel to satellite locations
