Job summary

Gastroenterology Associates, PC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our Gainesville, VA office to support patient care and clinic operations.

This full-time position offers regular daytime hours with no nights or weekends, and a team-focused environment under the One GI® family. Responsibilities include clerical tasks, specimen collection, patient health history, assisting physicians, phlebotomy, medication management, and scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical tasks and field patient calls.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Assist physician during visits and emergencies.
• Manage prescriptions and referrals as directed by physician.
• Prepare examination rooms and maintain infection control.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate tests.
• Escort patients and document health history.

Gastroenterology Associates, PC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team to help drive patient success in our community.

We are searching for a passionate Medical Assistant to work Full Time, Monday through Friday - Hours vary between 715AM to 345PM, 730AM to 4PM at our office in Gainesville, VA. This position provides a great work - life balance as you will not have to work any nights or weekends.

What you will do:

• This position will be mostly clerical work with some patient interaction via phone only.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician with office visits. Must be able to assist physician in an emergency.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by physician
• Answer patient questions. Notify patients of test results
• Review procedure reports to ensure patients have hospital orders and needed clearances have been received.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and/or throughout the office as needed.
• Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines.
• Prepare examination rooms to include cleaning and restocking of supplies.
• Assist with dressing and undressing of patients as needed.
• Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as directed by physician (dosage must be verified).
• Perform phlebotomy for lab work and complete required forms.*
• Assist with scheduling office visits, procedures, laboratory tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, hospital admissions and appointments as necessary.

What you bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
• Previous experience working in a medical office environment preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification Required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
