Job summary

Colon, Stomach, & Liver Center in Lansdowne, VA, part of One GI, is hiring a Full Time Medical Assistant to join our patient-centered gastroenterology team. You will measure vital signs, collect specimens, document health history, assist physicians, manage prescriptions and referrals, and help with scheduling and patient flow.

We value high school graduates with MA experience and BLS certification. This on-site, weekday role offers stable hours (8:00am–4:30pm, Monday–Friday), excellent PTO,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
• Previous experience working in a medical office environment preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification Required.

Responsibilities

• Measure vital signs: weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature and document in chart.
• Collect specimens for lab analysis as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician during office visits and emergencies.
• Manage patient prescriptions and referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions and communicate test results.
• Review procedure reports and ensure hospital orders and clearances are in place.
• Escort patients through the office and maintain infection control procedures.

We are searching for a passionate Full Time Medical Assistant that will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. No nights or weekends! What You Will Do

• Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart.
• Collect specimens for laboratory analysis, as applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record health history of patients.
• Assist the physician with office visits. Must be able to assist physician in an emergency.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by physician.
• Answer patient questions. Notify patients of test results.
• Review procedure reports to ensure patients have hospital orders and needed clearances have been received.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and/or throughout the office as needed.
• Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines.
• Prepare examination rooms, including cleaning and restocking of supplies.
• Assist with dressing and undressing of patients as needed.
• Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as directed by physician (dosage must be verified).
• Perform phlebotomy for lab work and complete required forms.
• Assist with scheduling office visits, procedures, laboratory tests, x-rays, outpatient testing, hospital admissions and appointments as necessary.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
• Previous experience working in a medical office environment preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification Required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology required.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
