Southwest Allergy & Asthma Center has recently merged with Allergy & ENT Associates

Our patient volume is growing and we need an MA for our busy clinic in Frisco!!!

Location: 12950 Dallas Parkway - Suite 700
Frisco, TX 75033

Hours:

Mon. 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Tue. 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Wed. 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Thu. 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Fri. 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Position Summary

To provide quality patient care services to the patients of Southwest Allergy & Asthma Center under the direction of physicians/providers and the nursing staff. Supports the goals and the objectives of the Company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Front desk reception
  2. Answers phones and schedules appointments
  3. Greets patients with a smile, completion of registration forms, and gives instructions
  4. Processes, codes, and completes insurance claim forms
  5. Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology
Clinical:
  1. Measures and records vital signs
  2. Interview patients while recording and updating medical information (history, chief complaint) and medications etc. into the EHR
  3. Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests
  4. Provides patient education with regards to medications and instructions set forth by the provider to manage their health
  5. Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization
  6. Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and prepares exam room for patient
  7. Cleans and sterilizes instruments
  8. Check and responds to patient phone calls (communicating w/the provider on course of action and relaying to the patient)
  9. Review and prepare requests and prior authorizations for medications
  10. Scribing and assisting with procedures
  11. Performs routine allergy skin testing per protocols and documents results.
  12. Full shot office responsibility
  13. Educates testing patients regarding environmental controls, treatment plans, and medications
  14. Familiar with signs and symptoms of allergy testing systemic reactions. Familiar with emergency equipment and protocols for treatment.
  15. Seeks immediate assistance from RN/LVN staff in dealing with emergency treatment for allergy testing patients
  16. Attendance is required for all In-Service trainings
  17. Travel to other offices will be required.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High school graduate or equivalent
  2. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable experience.
  3. 3 years medical office experience preferred.
  4. Current CPR certification required. Medical Assistant Certification a plus.
  5. Must be self-directed and able to work independently
  6. Attention to detail a must
  7. Professional, calm and courteous demeanor
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
COMPUTER SKILLS
  1. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word
  2. Electronic Medical/Health Record System experience

  1. Safety and Confidentiality - Follows OSHA regulations and the safety guidelines of the Practice. Follows HIPAA policies and procedures. Respects and maintains patient confidentiality. Use CPR skills when necessary.

Physical Demands

Anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Lifting up to 40-50 pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific style or type of care provided. In the performance of certain patient care tasks, the Medical Assistant may be expected to have sufficient manual dexterity in order to safely perform various skills and techniques. Tasks and expectations may vary by clinical site and medical practice. Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner. May be exposed to acutely ill patients, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and airborne allergens used during skin testing and immunotherapy.

Work Environment

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation; Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with regular working hours; Occasional overtime and/ or travel to other clinics may be required.
