Job description

The Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring patient well-being and providing a positive, supportive environment for patients and staff. This role works in conjunction with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, front office, and clinical staff. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and a dedication to customer service and patient care.

Work Environment

This position is center-based and requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate, with potential exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The role requires the ability to stand and sit for hours, perform manual dexterity tasks, and lift up to 50 lbs. Hours may vary based on location, patient volume, and business needs.

Job Requirements
  1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assisting Program graduation preferred.
  2. Work Experience: Front Desk experience preferred.
  3. Certifications: BLS certification required at hire (through ARC or AHA). One of the following certifications is required or must be obtained within 15 months of hire:
    1. CCMA
    2. CMA
    3. RMA
    4. NCMA
    5. NRCMA
    Additionally, CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start and must be maintained. Alternatives include nursing or LPN/RN certifications, EMT, or CNA.
Primary Responsibilities
  1. Complete provider orders following regulations.
  2. Perform clinical intake, including vital signs and patient history.
  3. Assist patients with walking, transfers, specimen collection, and exam prep.
  4. Conduct occupational health testing and patient referrals.
  5. Document assessments and procedures accurately in EMR and paper records.
  6. Manage inventory, restock rooms, and maintain supplies and equipment.
  7. Prepare patient rooms and ensure infection control protocols.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned, including new care models and procedures.
