Summary:
The Surgery Center of Allentown, located in Allentown, Pa., is a freestanding ambulatory surgery center. At the Surgery Center of Allentown, we provide high quality outpatient surgical care to the people of the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas in a pleasant and convenient environment.
We are currently searching for a Full – Time Medical Assistant to work Mondays – Fridays who can work cooperatively with staff and physicians and perform a variety of tasks.
Major responsibilities include:
• Helping the phone nurses with pre-op phone calls.
• Ensure that all linen carts, blanket warmers, and supply areas are stocked throughout the day.
• Conducts daily testing on departmental equipment and maintains appropriate log books.
• Supports pre-op nursing staff by performing the following activities, which include, but are not limited to, cleaning and organizing beds, getting patients changed and in the assigned bay, and taking the first set of vital signs.
• Supports PACU nursing staff by performing the following activities, which include, but are not limited to, cleaning and organizing beds, getting patient belongings, helping patients get changed, providing snacks to patients, and discharging patients.
• Cleans/Prepares unit for next day.
• Disposes of biohazardous waste in appropriate containers.
• Assists Material Manager when designated by Management.
• Other duties as assigned
Position Qualification:
You must possess a HS school diploma/GED and medical assistant training.
