The role includes greeting callers, scheduling appointments, providing department information, and maintaining patient confidentiality in a HIPAA-compliant environment. A positive, team-oriented approach is essential to deliver quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in EMR and related computer systems.
• Commitment to patient care and teamwork.
• Excellent communication, professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality.
• Understanding of safety regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Greet callers, determine purpose, and direct or transfer calls to the appropriate department.
• Provide information about departments, locations, hours, and services.
• Schedule appointments for departments and providers.
• Provide information to referring providers and patients.
• Respond to patient inquiries via the patient portal and update patient records.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Stay knowledgeable about services and staff to answer calls effectively.
