Job summary

Physicians' Clinic of Iowa is seeking a full-time Access Center Representative to provide professional, courteous telephone service and ensure callers are connected to the right department, provider, or resource.

The role includes greeting callers, sharing department information, scheduling appointments, updating patient data, and ensuring HIPAA compliance. A medical office background and EMR proficiency are preferred to support efficient patient access and care.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office or with medical terminology preferred.
• Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in EMR and related computer systems.
• Strong commitment to patient care and teamwork.
• Excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality.
• Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Greet callers, determine the purpose of their call, and direct or transfer to the appropriate department, provider, or staff member.
• Provide general information regarding departments, location, hours of operation, and other frequently requested information.
• Schedule appointments for departments and providers.
• Provide information to referring providers and patients.
• Respond to patient inquiries via the patient portal and enter/update patient information as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect patient information per HIPAA and policies.
• Remain knowledgeable of departments, services, providers, and frequently requested information.

This position provides professional, courteous, and efficient telephone service while ensuring callers are connected to the appropriate department, provider, or resource.

Primary duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Greet callers, determine the purpose of their call, and accurately direct or transfer calls to the appropriate department, provider, or staff member.
• Provide general information regarding departments, location, hours of operation, and other frequently requested information.
• Schedule appointments for department and providers.
• Provided information to referring providers and patients.
