Job summary

Alamance County Government is seeking an Income Maintenance Caseworker III – Family and Children’s Medicaid Trainer to lead training and quality assurance across the Family and Children’s Medicaid division. You will interpret policy changes, mentor staff, and ensure accurate case determinations and communications.

The role focuses on providing technical assistance, developing updated documentation, and collaborating with the NC Fast Help Desk to improve service delivery in Economic Services.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college/university; or graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Business Administration, or a closely related curriculum; or
• Graduation from high school with three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which includes negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or
• Graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Prior experience with Microsoft Windows suites of products.
• Possession of a valid NC driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and technical assistance to Medicaid staff. Interpret policy changes, guide staff through updates, and help troubleshoot challenging cases. Conduct initial assessments to identify barriers and goals, complete orientations, and collaboratively develop and update documentation that outlines the path to employment success.
• Conduct reviews of Medicaid cases to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies.
• Stay current on Medicaid and Economic Services program policies. Ensure accuracy and consistency in case determinations, benefit calculations, and customer communications.
• Mentor and support staff through coaching, constructive feedback, and hands‑on training.
• Assist in audit preparation (federal, state, or local), contribute to the development of corrective or improvement plans, and ensure follow‑up implementation.
